This is the start of a new blog about the cities hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Australia.
Today, I’m starting with a great city: BALLARAT.
Ballarat is around a 90 minute drive or Train Journey from Melbourne.
Bendigo and Geelong are around an hours drive away.
Ballarat is mainly known for the Eureka Rebellion, AKA Eureka Stockade.
There are great cafes, hotels, shopping.
Some of the awesome places to visit are:
Sovereign Hill,
Lake Wendouree,
Bakery Hill.
You can walk the trail of the rum rebellion.
Ballarat will be hosting some of the events during the 2026 Commonwealth Games:
- Ballarat Sports Events Centre, Wendouree – Boxing
- Creswick trails, Creswick – Mountain Biking
- Eureka Stadium, Wendouree – Athletics and Street Events (Marathon and Walking Starts and Finishes).
