An example of a parent controlling their offspring is an episode of Hannah Montana, Season 2 Episode 13, where her father refuses to let her travel by herself.
As usual, what is written below is my personal opinion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parent
How many of you believed from a young age, about:
Santa Claus (Father Christmas),
Easter Bunny,
Tooth Fairy,
Bedroom Monsters,
And many others, where your parents tell you these lies.
If parents will lie to their very young offspring, then why wouldn’t they lie about other things when they are older?
Many Parents will also make assumptions about others and will twist the truth to suit their needs.
This has happened to me several times in my existence, which has now caused me to have trust issues, but also be more cautious too.
What resonates most with me is the TV show: “Mother & Son, Season 2, Episode titled The Promotion.” Although most episodes resonate with me. Maggie reminds me so much of my late father.

An example of a toxic parent is the movie: ” Ma & Pa Kettle, Back On The Farm.”

The following is my own personal opinion.
I’ve found many parents will not accept their offspring have grown up.
Once someone reaches 16, they should be allowed to start making their own decisions, whether good or bad, but that’s how we learn.
I will advise them to be safe though.
Never meet someone alone, or in private the 1st few times, always meet in public, with CCTV prevalent & support people watching too. Demand Written Agreements too, to keep everyone safe.
N.B. I never allow “In Person” Meets, unless there is a written signed agreement. I have major trust issues, hence my demand for WSA’s. I never request personal information, i.e Residential address, workplace, or contact details, vehicle details, only 1 social media contact to continue chatting.
Honestly, before meeting, I prefer to video chat several times.

I’ve also found many parents will lie, to manipulate their offspring, sometimes guilt them too. Many are possessive, even when their offspring are legal adults.
Please don’t get me wrong: Its nice, but sometimes, being overprotective, can smother or restrict an offspring, and they will rebel, or worse.
I’ve seen it happen.
Overprotective, to me, is another way of controlling an Offspring.
Now, I’ve never been lucky enough to become a parent, that choice was taken away when I was 16.
But, as an outsider, looking in, I have seen too many offspring become shy, withdrawn and frightened to do anything against their parents wishes.
I was the same way growing up.
My father controlled me right up until he died. I was 46.
My father stopped me from being happy.
Parents think they are acting in their offsprings best interests,
You know what,
No, they are selfish and acting in
THEIR PERCIEVED best interests, because they don’t trust their offspring making the correct decisions.
Too many Parents are Control Freaks, Toxic, Vain, Snobbish & should listen to their offspring.
And accept them for who they truly are, not some sort of “Mini Me” version.
I know many of you will get angry and upset with me, because of this post, but I don’t care, because what is written above, is from my personal observations over the years.
I failed my parents, but worst of all, Failed the only person who counts in MY existence
ME.

Finally: Please Let Them Beeeeeeeeeeee
